Philips SE6591B/17 DECT Series 2-line Cordless Phone with Answering Machine (Black) With dual keypad and dual line flexibility, the SE659 is the perfect communication partner. Customer Review: Meh
I can’t say I’m terribly impressed. The phone lacks quality of design, both in hardware and software. The software is unintuitive and reminds me of something written in 1995. The hardware is uninspired and doesn’t confirm well to the hand and ear. Call quality is acceptable, but nothing spectacular. Nothing thrilling here; just another boring phone.
Customer Review: Looks better than it works
I was very disappointed with this product, and I had to return it (and I hardly ever return ANYTHING). I was looking for a 2-line phone that could handle 6 extensions, has an answering machine, and was a Dect 6.0 that wouldn’t interfere with my wireless computer network — my 900 MHz phone near my computer crackles like crazy so I have to go into another room to use it! This system fit the bill for me, and I thought the color display was cool. Problem is that the color display is next to useless because all you can do is choose from 3 pictures for your background, and when you make or answer a call, it goes to a gray screen. So much for the cool color screen. There was a big problem with the quality, too. The phone crackled, and the answering machine crackled (like a bad speaker). Thought this was supposed to be a super high-def speaker?! Nope. Not clear AT ALL. The biggest problem for me, though, was that this phone DOESN’T HAVE AUTO-ANSWER! That means you HAVE to press a button to answer a call — you can’t just pick up the phone to answer it. For someone that is used to just picking up the phone to answer it, this means that I will get a loud, ringing phone in my ear until I remember to press the stupid button. While there is USUALLY an auto-answer option you can choose via the menu on most phone systems, there isn’t that option on this phone. Strange, considering that there IS an auto-HANGUP option (where you can hang up the phone and not press a button to disconnect the call). Auto-answer just seems very basic to me, and would especially be annoying for my husband, who has bad vision and wouldn’t want to search for that little button every time he answers a call.
