We have two Panasonic KX-TG5431 cordless phones in our house, and they are great! My hearing isn’t as keen as it was a few years ago, so the “speaker phone” option is great, however,I agree with another response that I can’t turn off the speaker while talking. Um, my daughter wanted to discuss my husband’s birthday, so I had to go to another room and close the door, or, he could have heard our conversation. Oh, I just ordered another one as a gift to my sister in law from CA because she really likes my phone. I’m one gift ahead for Christmas 2008!! Anon Judie
Customer Review: Panasonic Phone
I bought this phone about a yera and a half ago or so. I had been a sony phone fan, but they do not make phones anymore. After doing research all over the net, I decided to buy this panasonic model. It usually has great clarity, but over the past few months I have started to notice some static….but it comes and goes. The past week or so I have noticed a weird echo, that I absolutely can’t deal with. But the phone is pretty cool. It has a bunch of different rings tones, and you can assign different ring tones to different callers. You can go to this web site and buy rings tone and they upload to the phone without having to use any connection to the computer. It has the digital answerer, which if you are in another room, you can use the handset to listen to the messages if you want to screen the calls. The handset is smallish, easy to hold. I leave it off the charger for DAYS and the battery never seems to get low. So overall I really liked the phone a lot until this weird echo business. Another thing that it could use….I also have voice mail, and use the answerer to over ride the voice mail by having it pick up on two rings if I really want to screen, but if I shut off the answerer to use my voice mail, the only way to know if I have voice mail is to pick up the phone and listen for the message dial tone. There’s not a little light that blinks to tell you that you have a voice mail like my last two phones did. Oh well. I will see if the echo goes away, and if it doesn’t, I will probably look for another panasonic.

I have this phone at home. I’ve had it for 2 1/2 years and it’s worked great. Then, it started dying. I’d speak on it for about 10 minutes, it would start beeping, and then the reception would cut out/die. I replaced the battery, but it still happened.
I am so sick of spending good money on top-name electronics and then having them die in 2 years or less. I do not go for cheap, so this is especially distressing.
I am not happy with this revelation, but reading all other cordless phone reviews, this one unfortunately got the best one (which is not saying much). I guess I’ll have to buy it again, since I need a cordless phone and this gets the best reviews (again, the “best” is not really best, but best out there from what is available).
Very maddening indeed.

Panasonic KX-TG2570S 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Answering System and Caller ID (Silver) The Panasonic KX-TG2570 is one of the GigaRange Extreme phones–in fact, it offers Panasonic’s longest-range spread spectrum technology (SST) to date. Cordless phones with SST have greater output power than regular cordless phones because they transmit over the entire bandwidth, constantly changing frequency.

While conventional phones transmit and receive signals within the same band (which can result in interference between these signals), 2.4 GHz GigaRange Extreme SST cordless phones employ the use of two different frequencies–2.4 GHz on the base and 900 MHz on the handset. This means that interference between these signals is minimized, thereby enhancing clarity and boosting range. A unique, proprietary circuitry design also helps these phones resist interference from other devices that share similar bands, like microwave ovens. Panasonic 2.4 GHz GigaRange Extreme cordless phones utilize SST in both the 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz bands.

This unique twin-band transmission, coupled with rugged design, allows you to take your conversations outdoors. Panasonic has also included a 2.5-millimeter headset jack and belt clip for hands-free operation. I got this phone back in 2001, and the only trouble after roughly six years is that I need a new battery. It is a bit worn looking though, but that’s to be expected for the length of time I’ve had it. I have NOT been gentle with this phone, and it still works, which says a lot about the product.
